[origin: EP0519422A2] The apparatus for quenching heated metal parts has a container (1), provided with a cover (3) for receiving a quenching medium, a drop shaft (5), coming from an oven (4) and ending in the container (1), for transferring the metal parts from the oven (4) into the container (1) and for extracting vapours of the quenching medium from the drop shaft (5), and a suction line (17) which branches off from the latter and leads to the suction side of a propellant pump (15) which runs with the quenching medium as propellant. In the flow path downstream of the propellant pump (15), a gas scrubber is provided which likewise contains the quenching medium as the scrubbing fluid. <IMAGE>
