The invention relates to a universal hanger having a hanging member comprising a rod provided, at one of its ends, with a stop (4) and, at the other end, with a hooking head (2), and comprising a garment support member (5), and means such as tie rods (10,11) capable of exerting a traction on the support member (5) on either side of the hooking member (2), characterised in that the stop (4) bears on the support member (5) and in that the free ends of the said tie rods (10,11) slide freely around the rod (3). <IMAGE>
