A pearlescent liquid detergent composition comprises an organic pearlescer, at least 5% by weight of a primary alkyl sulphate anionic surfactant and less than 2.5% by weight of a pearlescer crystallisation enhancer selected from acids, salts, alcohols and esters having a hydrophobic moiety with an average of at least 16 carbon atoms and nonionic surfactants.
