Internal combustion engine cylinder head comprising a housing (2) in which there is mounted a hydraulic device for taking up play (1) of the type comprising moving elements (8, 9) able to slide within a body (2), a first hydraulic chamber called a pressure chamber (6) and a second hydraulic chamber forming an oil reserve (5) communicating via a valve (10) with the first chamber and via drillings (17, 20, 23) with the housing (3, 32), characterised in that it is fitted with means (12, 31) for retaining oil, intended to be capable alone of supplying oil for the said device (1) for taking up play. <IMAGE>
