[origin: EP0520978A1] In a tank, an inside wall (1) is surrounded with spacing (2) by an outside wall (3) forming a leakage monitoring space (4), the latter being formed by a fabric. To reduce the manufacturing costs and the weight of the tank and to save material, the leakage monitoring space (4) is formed by a resin-impregnated, cured spacer fabric (5) made of reinforcing fibres, whose one layer of fabric (6) is firmly bonded to the inside wall (1) and whose other layer of fabric (7) is firmly bonded to the outside wall (3) and whose webs (8) joining the two layers (6, 7) of the spacer fabric are directed approximately perpendicular to the inside and outside walls (1, 3), forming a hollow space (4) (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
