[origin: WO9114576A1] The invention concerns an aspiration and cover device (4) for aspirating ink from multi-colour ink jet printing heads (80). The device has aspiration apertures (40) associated with aspiration channels (401) and pressure compensation channels (403). In order to prevent the ink which enters the pressure compensation channels (403) while the aspiration and cover flap (4) is operating in the aspiration mode from mixing, cross-channels (465) are disposed at intervals between the pressure compensation channels (403).
