[origin: EP0521323A2] The present fixing unit for quilting foam cushions serves in particular for the detachable application of protective covers (15) to upholstered foam cushions (14), such as e.g. seat cushions, backrests or mattresses by means of upholstering buttons (9) which can be engaged in the manner of press buttons on the fixing unit. <??>To facilitate the application and exchange of the protective covers, a connecting band (1) with, formed on both ends, extension pieces (2, 3) with ball-shaped heads (4) and (5) for pressing on the upholstering buttons is proposed, one extension piece (2) being provided on the side facing towards the band (1) with a cylindrical shaft (12) and at a short distance from the ball head (4) on the shaft (12) with a plate (6) for holding the extension piece (2) on the foam cushion (14), while the other extension piece (3) likewise has on the side facing the band (1) a shaft (12) and at a short distance from the head (5) on the shaft (12) a smaller plate (7), the diameter of which corresponds approximately to the diameter of the ball head (5) and which is intended, after the extension piece (3) has been pulled through the foam cushion (14), to serve as support for a holding part (8) supported on the rear side of the cushion. <IMAGE>
