Abstract (en)
Arranged downstream of the catalytic converter (5) arranged in an exhaust pipe (4) of an internal combustion engine (1) is a self-regulating restriction element (8) which closes the exhaust pipe (4) almost completely in the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine (1). The increase in the exhaust back pressure resulting from this has the effect of increasing the engine mass flow and, as a result, the exhaust gas temperature rises and the catalytic converter is rapidly heated. <IMAGE>

Hinter dem in einer Abgasleitung (4) einer Brennkraftmaschine (1) angeordneten Katalysator (5) ist ein selbstregelndes Drosselelement (8) angeordnet, welches in der Warmlaufphase der Brennkraftmaschine (1) die Abgasleitung (4) nahezu vollständig verschließt. Der dadurch erhöhte Abgasgegendruck bewirkt einen größeren Motormassendurchsatz, wodurch die Abgastemperatur steigt und der Katalysator zügig erwärmt wird. <IMAGE>
