[origin: WO9212277A1] A wear indicator for reactive anodes (10), especially for water tanks and hot water units (51), secured to the tank wall (25) via a connecting sleeve (18) with a longitudinal drilling. One end of the connecting sleeve (18) is connected to an anode body (11) having a test chamber (15) and the other end is connected to a signal cartridge (13) fitted with a transparent signal cartridge cap (32). A signalling means triggering a signal when the anode body (11) is consumed is inserted in the inner space (20) of the signal cartridge cap (32). The signalling means is a hygroscopic capsule containing optical indicator, a diaphragm (33) or a pin capable of being pushed outwards.
