[origin: WO9213004A1] The invention concerns a material (5) consisting at least partly of starch and/or starch-containing biomass and/or at least one starch derivative, and normally also including water (9) and/or alcohol. The material is homogenized and compressed in a feed and/or compression device (21), preferably a worm-gear (30). The paste-like material thus produced is forced into the hollow interior (39) of a gelling and/or mixing chamber (43) in which it is mixed with a cross-linking agent (51) and heated, melted and gelled by means of steam. This enables a highly homogeneous gelled mixture to be produced which can be further processed to give a wide variety of products, such as a transparent continuous strip (95) or a foam.

Un matériau (5) constitué au moins en partie d'amidon et/ou de biomasse amylacée, et/ou au moins d'un dérivé d'amidon, lequel contient normalement de l'eau (9) et/ou de l'alcool, est homogénéisé et compacté dans un dispositif d'alimentation et/ou de compression (21) au moyen d'un organe de compression (30) constitué de préférence d'une vis sans fin. Le matériau pâteux ainsi produit est pressé dans l'espace creux (39) d'une chambre de gélification et/ou de mélange (43), où il est mélangé à une substance de réticulation (51) et, par apport de vapeur, réchauffé, fondu et gélifié. De cette manière il est possible de fabriquer un mélange gélifié très homogène susceptible d'être transformé en différents produits, par exemple un ruban de film transparent (95) ou un produit mousseux.
