Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0522319A1] The folded printed products (16), which are held by clamps during folding, are fed to the opening device (24). The latter has grippers (42) with one fixed and one removable gripper jaw (52, 76), which bound a sliding gap (82) when the movable gripper jaw (76) is in the closed position. The pushing element (56) is displaceable along the sliding gap (82) in order to push the printed product (16) held in the edge region (34) by the appropriate gripper (42) out of the sliding gap (82). In this process, the pushing element (56) acts on the edge section (38) of the first part of the product (36) which projects beyond the second part of the product (40). As a result of the pre-bending of the printed products (16), the second part of the product (40) is carried along when pushed against the first part of the product (36) and is raised from the first part of the product (36) as a result of the bending as it leaves the sliding gap (82), the edge section (38) of the first part of the product (36) still being guided in the sliding gap (82). <IMAGE>
