In order to improve grip pliers, having two gripping arms movable towards one another, of which each has a jaw part, two lever grips, a pressure lever which forms a toggle-lever mechanism with the second lever grip, by means of which toggle-lever mechanism the jaw parts, for gripping a workpiece, can be moved in the gripping direction from an initial position into a gripping position while developing an intended gripping force and can be secured in this position, and an adjusting device for adjusting the distance apart of the jaw parts, in such a way that the workpiece is simple to insert into and remove from the jaw parts and in addition the grip pliers on the whole are as simple to manipulate as possible, it is proposed that the jaw parts be movable from the initial position in the opposite direction to the gripping direction into a position of maximum opening, and that a locking element be provided which in a first position permits opening of the jaw parts up to the initial position and in a second position permits opening of the jaw parts up to the position of maximum opening. <IMAGE>

Um eine Gripzange mit zwei gegeneinander bewegbaren Spannarmen, von welchen jeder ein Maulteil aufweist, mit zwei Hebelgriffen, mit einem Druckhebel, welcher mit dem zweiten Hebelgriff ein Kniehebelmechanismus bildet, durch welchen die Maulteile zum Spannen eines Werkstücks in Spannrichtung von einer Ausgangsstellung in eine Spannstellung unter Entfaltung einer vorgesehenen Spannkraft bewegbar und in dieser festlegbar sind und mit einer Stelleinrichtung zur Anpassung von den Maulteilen einzunehmenden Abstandes, derart zu verbessern, daß das Werkstück einfach in die Maulteile einsetzbar und aus diesen entnehmbar ist und außerdem die Gripzange insgesamt möglichst einfach handhabbar ist, wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Maulteile von der Ausgangsstellung entgegengesetzt zur Spannrichtung in eine maximal geöffnete Stellung bewegbar sind und daß ein Blockierelement vorgesehen ist, welches in einer ersten Stellung ein Öffnen der Maulteile bis zur Ausgangsstellung und in einer zweiten Stellung ein Öffnen der Maulteile bis zur maximal geöffneten Stellung zuläßt. <IMAGE>
