Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0522671A1] The invention relates to a motorail train with transport carriages for motor vehicles and passengers, in particular for increased travel and loading speeds. The previous motorail trains do not satisfy the speed requirements, in particular on high-speed routes. The object is to produce a motorail train which corresponds to modern safety requirements and with which the loading times can be shortened. This is achieved in that the train is made up of enclosed transport units for motor vehicles (2), passenger carriages (3) and driving units (1) at the ends, locomotives or control vehicles. The transport units for the motor vehicles (2) consequently consist of a plurality of transport carriages (2a, 2b, 2c) which can be entered by vehicles from the side via gates (6) and which have a loading level which can be driven through in its entirety and an end-side passenger access to the passenger carriages (3), which are coupled distributed between further transport units (2) or to the end-side driving units (1), locomotives or else control vehicles, in particular if the latter have passenger compartments. It is expedient that for this purpose the carriages of the transport units (2), in particular the carriages at the start (2a) and end (2c) of each transport unit (3) have rolling or sliding gates (6a, 6b) on the longitudinal sides, into which the motor vehicles can be driven at an angle from a platform, loading level or loading ramp (38) and parked in the direction of travel of the train. <IMAGE>
