[origin: EP0523000A1] The spinning or twisting spindle 1 possesses a neck bearing 9 and a step bearing 10 for mounting the spindle-shaft shank 4 in the housing 2. The bearing tube 13 ensures the mutually rigid arrangement of the bearings 9, 10. The bearings 9, 10 are retained in the housing 2 by means of a supporting element 15; a portion of corrugated tube 22, as a ball joint, ensures the necessary movability of the neck bearing 9, whilst a metal roll 24 damps the movement of the step bearing 10. This arrangement allows cost-effective production and the desired movability of the spindle shaft 5 at high spindle speeds. <IMAGE>
