Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9213653A1] In a process for the hydrostatic shaping of hollow bodies (21) of cold-workable metal and in a device for implementing the process, pressurised liquid is fed from outside into the hollow body (21) inside a shaping chamber (17) of a swage (16). Thus the wall of the hollow body (21) in a shaping region is pressed against the engraving (20) of the shaping chamber (17) under relative movement. The hollow body (21) is held outside the shaping region in at least one securing region (26). An embodiment of the process facilitates a wide range of shaping even in thin-walled hollow bodies (21) in that the hollow body (21) is kept floating with substantially no axial force in each securing region (26) and the wall of said body is moved in relation to the swage (16) and especially drawn into it only by the pressurised liquid.
