[origin: EP0523264A1] The device for making single-sheet corrugated paper board has two grooved rollers 2, 3 which corrugate a paper web 4. A sizing mechanism 6 for applying size to the corrugated paper web is provided, which sizing mechanism comprises a size-applying roller 7 cooperating with a grooved roller 3, a size-metering element 11 and a size container 9. A contact roller 24 presses a covering web 25 against the sized, corrugated paper web. On either side of the size-applying roller 7, two chambers 16, 17 are formed which, with one of their rims, are sealed against one grooved roller or the contact roller and, with their other rims, are sealed against the sizing mechanism. These chambers have connections 20, 27 to sources of excess pressure, in order to press the corrugated web against the grooved roller 3 by means of the excess pressure P1, P2. The two rims, sealing against the sizing mechanism 6, of the pressure chambers 16, 17 cooperate with surfaces of the sizing mechanism 6 which do not feed any size to the grooved roller 3. <IMAGE>
