[origin: EP0523363A1] Lagging boards used for lining tunnels or the like are only able to reduce settlement of the rock if they bear closely and over their surface area against the rock. In order to obtain good bearing of the lagging boards against the rock, lagging boards consisting of hollow sections and made of a light, non-rotting material are installed. The hollow sections are filled with load-bearing lightweight materials to produce the required strength and rigidity properties.
