[origin: EP0523384A1] The hydrostatic piston machine has a plurality of pistons (16) which are guided in bores (17) of a rotor (18) and which interact with a travel-generating guide means (13). The rotor (18) or the bores (17) are pressurised axially, i.e. from an end face of the rotor, by a pressure medium. For the purpose of axial support and the absorption of axial thrust forces, the drive shaft interacts with a thrust bearing (35) which is braced with respect to the housing. The thrust bearing is designed as a sleeve bearing and has a pressure chamber (52) which is pressurised with a high pressure and thus results in a partial hydrostatic unloading of the bearing point. <IMAGE>
