[origin: WO9214026A1] The invention concerns a device for the intermittent driving of a drill rod or measurement probe by means of a drop hammer (11) or rammer. The device comprises a striker system which includes the drop hammer (11) or rammer and two rollers (13, 15), with horizontal axes of rotation, mounted symmetrically on opposite sides of the drop hammer. At least one of the rollers is driven, the said rollers being used to lift the drop hammer upwards. Also fitted is a releasable clamping device which holds the rollers (13, 15) together, with the drop hammer (11) or rammer clamped between them, so that the drop hammer is driven to rise upwards.
