The invention relates to a gas burner for cooking plates with an outer burner ring which surrounds an inner chamber and has on the outer circumference gas outlet openings which produce the main flame, and with an ignition plug and a thermo-element, there being fastened coaxially in the inner chamber an inner burner which is surrounded inside the inner chamber by an annular space which is closed by a chamber bottom and to which air for the inner burner is supplied through openings which are arranged below the burner ring above the chamber bottom. <IMAGE>
