[origin: EP0525450A1] In a device for severing and clamping a torn web (5), having a cutter bar (10) which has a fixed cutter (9) and is arranged so as to traverse the plane of transport of the web, and having a lifting bar (8) which has a projection (17) which can be brought into operative engagement with the cutter (9) and can be lifted and lowered by means of an associated extension device (22) which can be activated by means of a web tear detector, universal usability and a high degree of safety can be achieved in a simple and cost-effective manner due to the fact that the cutter bar (10) contains two identical, rail-type cutter bearers (11) which hold the cutter (9) between them and are provided in the region of their side facing the lifting bar (8) with symmetrically arranged holders (13) for the elastic strips (14a, 14b) which flank the cutter (9), project relative to the cutting edge of the cutter (9) and are spaced apart at least by the width of the projection (17) of the lifting bar (8) which is constructed to be symmetrical to the cutting plane (s) and has two clamping surfaces (21) which flank the projection (17) provided with a cutting groove (18), into which the cutter (9) can be inserted, and are assigned to the elastic strips (14a, 14b). <IMAGE>
