[origin: EP0526390A1] The gripper loom has a weft-insert device, in which a feed gripper (1) transfers the weft thread to a take-up gripper (2) in the middle of the shed. Clamp openers (6) which actuate the thread clamps of the two grippers (1, 2) can ensure a reliable thread transfer. According to the invention, the clamp openers (6) and/or the gripper drives are driven by means of program-controlled servomotors (62 or 5). This allows, among other things, an operating mode of the loom which is coordinated with the properties of the weft threads used and of the gripper clamps. <IMAGE>
