Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0527676A1] Conventionally, straws (1) are filled by suction through a suction nozzle (2), fitted with a needle (22) which penetrates into the straw behind a composite plug (11) and is fitted with a seal (23). A biological product (diluted sperm) (37) rises through a flexible pipe (34) made of elastomer towards an injection nozzle (3) in response to the reduced pressure in the straw (1). The flexible pipe (34) is held centred over at least five times its external diameter, in a hoop (31,32) held in a support. The elastomer which constitutes the flexible pipe (34) has a Shore hardness of 41 to 47, and a capacity for reversible extension of at least 250 %. These devices ensure strict centring of the needle (33) in the hoop (31, 32) despite the flexibility of the pipe. The parts which have been in contact with the sperm may be disposed of after one ejaculation has been exhausted, instead of requiring expensive cleaning operations. <IMAGE>
