[origin: EP0528173A1] The invention relates to an oven with pyrolytic self-cleaning, whose muffle can be operated by means of a heating element arranged in at least one wall region and, if appropriate, by additional circulating-air heating, where the muffle can be ventilated by a circulating-air fan and is fitted with means for pyrolytic self-cleaning, characterised in that in the cooking space a sensor system detecting dirt values caused by operating the baking oven is arranged, that the sensor system is connected to the input of an evaluation circuit, that the evaluation circuit frequency-converts the input values of the sensor system, digitalizes, counts, stores and links them, that the evaluation circuit signals a degree of dirt on the output side and that the evaluation circuit recommends and/or carries out a pyrolysis start. <IMAGE>
