Metal-coated melamine-formaldehyde resin fibres in which the coating is obtained by first reducing a water-soluble metal salt using a more electronegative metal or metal salt, or first reducing a water-soluble metal salt using a hydride compound and then applying the desired metal to the fibre by reduction of one of its water-soluble salts with a reducing agent in the presence of a complexing agent.

Metallbeschichtete Melamin-Formaldehyd-Harz-Fasern, wobei die Beschichtung erhalten wird durch zuerst ein wasserlösliches Metallsalz mit einem unedleren Metall oder Metallsalz zu reduzieren, oder zuerst ein wasserlösliches Metallsalz mit einer Hydridverbindung zu reduzieren und dann das gewünschte Metall durch Reduktion eines seiner wasserlöslichen Salze mit einem Reduktionsmittel in Gegenwart eines Komplexbildners auf die Faser aufbringt.
