Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0529140A1] A method for transmitting binary data in an alarm signalling system comprising a central station (Z), from which at least one dual line (a, b) originates, by means of which a multiplicity of detectors (M1 to Mn) is connected to the central station (Z), devices for transmitting and detecting binary data being provided in the central station (Z) and in the detectors (M1 to Mn), which devices are in each case formed by means of a comparator (K), the switching threshold (Uk) of which is preset, the threshold values of the respective comparators (K) being determined and stored by the central station (Z) in that firstly a synchronisation signal (Sy) for preparing a detector (M) is sent out by the central station (Z) and subsequently a signal (C1; C2) is sent to the detector (M), the amplitude of which signal is systematically changed in such a manner that its value progressively approaches the comparator threshold value (Uk), whereupon this detector (M) outputs a characteristic signal (CA1, CA2) to the central station (Z) when the amplitude value is greater than the threshold value (Uk) and the comparator threshold value (Uk) is determined from the characteristic signal (CA1, CA2) and the systematically variable signal (C1, C2) in the central station (Z). <IMAGE>
