Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0529441A1] The invention relates to a pyrolysis furnace for the thermal cracking of hydrocarbons. In the radiant zone of the pyrolysis furnace, cracking tubes are combined into groups arranged in the same way. The cracking tubes in the radiant zone consist of straight, vertically extending pieces of tube, of pieces of tube headers and tube elbows. The cracking tubes of one group are combined in the direction of flow via pieces of tube headers and lead into an outlet pipe. Except for the projections of the tube elbows, the cracking tubes in the radiant zone are arranged in one plane. <??>According to the invention, the straight pieces of tube bearing an upward flow and combined in the outlet tube are located between the straight pieces of tube bearing a downward flow and leading into the tube elbows. The curvature of in each case one half of the tube elbows of a group is here in the same direction, the direction of curvature of the halves of the tube elbows being the opposite. <??>Before entering the radiant zone, the cracking tubes can be taken in one step (two 90 DEG curves) around cracked-gas coolers arranged above the outlet tubes. This allows a particularly advantageous vertical arrangement of the cracked-gas coolers.
