[origin: EP0529474A2] The invention relates to a device for generating heat by catalytic combustion, e.g. in a heating installation. To achieve improvements as regards a reduction in the NOx emissions and the risk of spontaneous ignition of a fuel/air mixture, the invention proposes that some of the exhaust gas be added to the fuel. By recirculating some of the hot exhaust gas from the burner outlet to a fuel/exhaust gas mixer (1), it is possible to achieve preheating of the gas mixture. <IMAGE>
