[origin: EP0530727A1] A storage heater contains a charging controller having a charging regulator (1) for the charging of the storage core, and contains a motor-driven fan (8) for heat emission. During operation with the fan (8) switched off, a signal (2) which is dependent on the external temperature is emitted to the switching mechanism (19) of the charging regulator (1), while during operation with the fan (8) switched on, a compensation signal is also emitted to the switching mechanism (19), in addition to the signal (2) which is dependent on the external temperature, in order to compensate for erroneous control signals for the charging controller. <IMAGE>
