Selon un procédé de culture de champs qui permet de cultiver de manière écologique un champ avec des machines et selon des procédés automatiques, les semences sont répandues sur le sol non labouré et sont recouvertes d'une couche de matériau décomposable. Cette couche peut se présenter, par exemple, sous forme de nattes en paille (7), en foin, en paillis ou en mélanges de ces matériaux.
