A recording apparatus for performing recording by ejecting ink from a plurality of discharging ports comprises a control mechanism arranged with plural discharging ports for a plurality of discharging groups to select the conveying amount for a recording medium in accordance with the discharging groups to be used for recording; hence making it possible to use the discharging ports evenly for recording to restrain the recording quality from being degraded in a long term use as well as to prolong the life of recording means. <IMAGE>
