The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of cylindrical pipes from wood veneer in which, in a first phase, a first pressing operation is carried out in a flat press on at least one assembly of veneers in order to form a multi-ply structure, this multi-ply structure is allowed to deform into a tile shape at the outlet from the press, and in a second phase, this multi-ply structure is pressed in an assembly press in order to form the cylinder, the multi-ply structure comprising at least three plies, its structure being asymmetric, one face of the multi-ply structure consisting of a veneer (1) in which the direction of the wood grain is parallel to the axis of the cylinder to be formed, the other face consisting of a veneer (2) in which the direction of the grain is perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder, the tile-shaped deformation at the outlet of the flat press being such that it corresponds to a bending whose radius is substantially equal to the radius of the pipe to be manufactured, the pressing of the second phase essentially consisting in connecting the ends of at least this multi-ply structure. <IMAGE>

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de tuyaux cylindriques à base de placages de bois, dans lequel, dans une première phase on réalise un premier pressage dans une presse à plat d'au moins un assemblage de placages pour former un multipli, on laisse ce multipli se déformer en tuile à la sortie de la presse, et dans une seconde phase on presse ce multipli dans une presse d'assemblage pour former le cylindre, le multipli comportant au moins trois plis, sa structure étant asymétrique, une face du multiplis étant constituée d'un placage (1) dont la direction du fil de la fibre de bois est parallèle à l'axe du cylindre à former, l'autre face étant constituée d'un placage (2) dont la direction du fil est perpendiculaire à l'axe du cylindre, la déformation en tuile à la sortie de la presse à plat étant telle qu'elle correspond à un cintrage de rayon sensiblement égal au rayon du tuyau à fabriquer, le pressage de la seconde phase consistant essentiellement à relier les extrémités d'au moins ce multipli. <IMAGE>
