[origin: EP0532435A1] The device and the method relate to the closing of containers for liquid carbon dioxide used, for example, as propellant in fire extinguishers. The device comprises a filling head (3) into which is inserted the neck (2) of the container (1) provided with a partially-fitted closing element (5). After the container has been filled through the closing element, the latter is pushed in by means of a metal rod (25) through which an internal current is then passed which welds the closing element onto the neck of the container in a fraction of a second. <IMAGE>
