Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0533536A1] The present invention relates to a method for sorting objects in N passes into R receptacles, comprising the following steps: - recording data comprising N criteria per object, - classifying the said objects in a given order in memory, in order to assign each of the said objects to a destination, - computation of the distribution of the said objects in an N-1th canonical pass in order to assign all the objects with the same value of a first criterion to the same receptacle, - computation of the distribution in an Nth canonical pass in order to assign all the said objects with the same value of a second criterion to the same receptacle in the said given order, - modification of the said Nth canonical pass distribution, giving a modified Nth pass distribution, such that each receptacle contains at most P objects (P being the maximum capacity of each receptacle), - determination of the contents of each receptacle at the end of an N-1th provisional pass arranged in order to allow the said modified Nth pass distribution, - modification of the said modified Nth pass distribution, giving a final Nth pass distribution, if the contents of a provisional N-1th pass receptacle exceeds P, the order of the said objects respecting the said given order, and the distribution of a final N-1th pass being arranged in order to allow the said final Nth pass distribution leading to the receptacles each containing at most P objects, - reiteration of the preceding steps for the N-1th and N-2th passes, and so on until the last two passes, - sorting of the said objects according to the final distributions.
