[origin: EP0533961A1] In a burner control circuit, the proper functioning of the flame sensor FS is monitored. If the flame sensor wrongly indicates the presence of a flame as early as during the preliminary scavenging period or before opening of the gas valve, the monitoring circuit makes the safety relay (SR) respond and switches off the system. <IMAGE>
