Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0534168A2] The headlamp has a reflector (10), which is subdivided into four segments with different reflective surfaces. Fitted in the reflector (10) is an incandescent lamp (14) with an axial spiral-wound filament (16), which extends approximately along the optical axis (18) of the reflector (10). The reflector (10) is bounded at the top and bottom by planar surfaces (30, 32). The lower bounding surface (32) is provided with a reflective coating and is inclined downwards with respect to the optical axis (18) in the direction of the light by an angle alpha of about 5 DEG to 7 DEG . Light emitted by the spiral-wound filament (16) and reflected by the lower segments of the reflector (10) onto the lower bounding surface (32) is reflected by this arrangement of the lower bounding surface (32) approximately parallel or, in the direction of the light, inclined slightly downwards with respect to the optical axis. The light reflected from the lower bounding surface (32) can consequently be used for producing the actual light distribution of the reflector (10). <IMAGE>
