A method and an apparatus for smoothing tubular expandable material with at least one closed end are indicated, especially for the shaping of stockings or pantyhoses, at least one device (30, 32) for delivering and for tensioning the material on an elongate form (11) being provided, furthermore there being at least one device (34, 36) for heating the material on the form (11), the device (30, 32) for delivering and for tensioning the material having a gathering device for the pre-gathering of the material and a tensioning device (210) which possesses gripper elements for taking over the gathered material from the gathering device, the said gripper elements being movable along the elongate form (11), in order to spread the gathered material onto the form (11). This arrangement guarantees an especially sparing treatment of the material and a uniform tensioning on the form. <IMAGE>

Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Glätten von schlauchförmigem dehnbarem Material mit mindestens einem geschlossenen Ende angegeben, insbesondere zum Formen von Strümpfen oder Strumpfhosen, wobei mindestens eine Einrichtung (30, 32) zur Aufgabe und zum Aufspannen des Materials auf einer langgestreckten Form (11) vorgesehen ist, ferner mindestens eine Einrichtung (34, 36) zum Heizen des Materials auf der Form (11), wobei die Einrichtung (30, 32) zur Aufgabe und zum Aufspannen des Materials eine Raffeinrichtung zum Vorraffen des Materials und eine Aufspanneinrichtung (210) aufweist, welche Greifelemente zur Übernahme des aufgerafften Materials von der Raffeinrichtung besitzt, die entlang der langgestreckten Form (11) bewegbar sind, um das geraffte Material auf die Form (11) aufzustreifen. Durch diese Anordnung wird eine besonders schonende Behandlung des Materials und ein gleichmäßiges Aufspannen auf der Form gewährleistet. <IMAGE>
