Abstract (en)
A radiation sensitive emulsion is disclosed containing a silver halide grain population comprised of at least 50 mole percent chloride, based on total silver forming the grain population. Greater than 30 percent of the grain population projected area is accounted for by tabular grains having a thickness of less than 0.3 <0>m and having ä100ü major faces. In one preferred form of the invention tabular grains are formed by nucleation in the presence of iodide with chloride accounting for at least 50 mole percent of the halide present in the dispersing medium and the pCl of the dispersing medium being maintained in the range of from 0.5 to 3.5. <IMAGE>
