[origin: EP0534818A1] Method for manufacturing an axle (shaft), the axial passage of revolution of which has, at its ends, an enlargement with a particular profile. The machine for carrying out this method includes a die 8 mounted so as to slide in a fixed support 17 and suitable for receiving and for holding in place, by wedging, an axle (shaft) blank 1; a counterpunch 7b having a profiled shoulder 13b, engaged via its tip in one end of the said bore (23); a movable punch 7a having a profiled shoulder 13a, suitable for being engaged via its tip in the other end of the said bore 23; and pressure means suitable for exerting a force on the said movable punch 7a so that the ends of the axial passage 3 of the said axle (shaft) blank 1 are compressed and deformed by stamping between the said profiled shoulders 13a, 13b of the punches. <IMAGE>
