[origin: EP0534931A1] A device for applying a flowable viscous substance, which is under pressure in a closed system within the device as far as the region of application, onto plane surfaces, webs, rollers and the like in any width, with or without the use of stencils, there being arranged in the device a substance-feed apparatus which distributes the viscous flowable substance uniformly over the width of application and the outflow orifices of which open into a collecting space, the limiting walls of which form a slit constituting the region of application, characterised in that a dynamically sealing gap is present between the limiting wall (2), at the front as seen in the direction of movement, of the collecting space (9) and the stencil (3) or the surface to be coated, whereas the rear limiting wall (1) seals off the collecting space (9) by means of a conductor element (5) bearing against this limiting wall (1) and the stencil (3) or against the surface. <IMAGE>
