Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0535299A1] In order that an inflating device (100), especially for inflating a container or a float of a rescue apparatus with compressed gas from a compressed-gas container (11), is safely put into operation in as simple a manner as possible and with few operating steps, which compressed-gas container (11) is closed by a diaphragm (14), has an external thread (13) in the area of the container neck (12) and can be screwed with the container neck (12) into a receiving opening (15) located in a housing (10) and provided with a corresponding internal thread (16) and the gas contents of which are released by opening the diaphragm (14) with an opening plunger (24) which is arranged in the housing and can be moved if need be via a hand lever and by the force of a spring element against the diaphragm (14), the spring element being held in a preloaded position by means of an automatic element (pellet) (22) losing its strength in water, provision is made for the compressed-gas container (11) to be screwed into the receiving opening (15) of the housing while at the same time preloading the spring element. <IMAGE>
