Vapour-cooled internal combustion engine (1) comprising a pressurisable cooling system (2) through which a coolant can flow, with at least one compensation cooler (3), at least one coolant pump (11) and an expansion tank (4), the expansion tank (4) being connected to the cooling circuit by means of a connecting line (5). The expansion tank (4) is arranged directly ahead of a coolant pump (11) in the main flow direction (9) and assigned to the condensation cooler (3) is a convection cooler (7) which can be connected up by way of a thermostat (6). The liquid coolant from the outlet of the convection cooler and the condensate from the outlet of the condensation cooler are combined at a junction in a feed line leading to the internal combustion engine (1), a pumping device for pumping the coolant in the main flow direction (9) being arranged in the region of the junction. <IMAGE>

Verdampfungsgekühlte Verbrennungskraftmaschine (1) umfassend ein druckbeaufschlagbares Kühlsystem (2), das von einem Kühlmittel durchströmbar ist, mit zumindest einem Kondensationskühler (3), zumindest einer Kühlmittelpumpe (11) und einem Ausdehnungsbehälter (4), wobei der Ausdehnungsbehälter (4) mittels einer Verbindungsleitung (5) an den Kühlkreislauf angeschlossen ist. Der Ausdehnungsbehälter (4) ist in Hauptströmungsrichtung (9) unmittelbar vor der Kühlmittelpumpe (11) angeordnet und dem Kondensationskühler (3) ist ein über ein Thermostat (6) zuschaltbarer Konvektionskühler (7) zugeordnet. Das flüssige Kühlmittel vom Konvektionskühleraustritt und das Kondensat vom Kondensationskühleraustritt ist in einer Zuleitung zur Verbrennungskraftmaschine (1) in einem Knotenpunkt zusammengeführt, wobei im Bereich des Knotenpunktes eine Pumpvorrichtung zur Förderung des Kühlmittels in Hauptströmungsrichtung (9) angeordnet ist. <IMAGE>
