Abstract (en)
A gas-generating mixture for an air bag, which has a burning rate of more than 40 mm/second and a good ignition performance, but leads to a relatively low combustion temperature, consists of an alkali metal azide or alkaline earth metal azide as the main component, a metal oxide as an oxidiser and slag former and 5 to 23% by weight of an accelerator consisting of a metal nitrate and silica, the metal nitrate/silica ratio being 4:1 to 1:4 and the silica content amounting to at least 3% by weight of the mixture.

Ein gaserzeugendes Gemisch für einen Airbag, das eine Abbrandgeschwindigkeit von mehr als 40 mm/s und eine gute Anzündwilligkeit besitzt, jedoch zu einer relativ niedrigen Verbrennungstemperatur führt, besteht aus einem Alkali- oder Erdalkaliazid als Hauptkomponente, einem Metalloxid als Oxidator und Schlackenbildner und 5 bis 23 Gew.-% eines Beschleunigers aus einem Metallnitrat und Siliciumdioxid, wobei das Verhältnis des Metallnitrats zu dem Siliciumdioxid 4 : 1 bis 1 : 4 beträgt und der Siliciumdioxid-Gehalt mindestens 3 Gew.-% des Gemischs ausmacht.
