[origin: EP0537086A1] Method and apparatus for coating photographic film webs or other moving supports advancing continuously through a coating station with a free falling curtain of coating liquid. An edging means is provided which includes edge walls extending rearwardly and downwardly from the hopper lip. The free falling curtain is allowed to bend back and its edges follow natural paths on the edge walls to narrow edge guides that precisely guide the free falling curtain from the edge walls to the moving support without inducing perturbations in the free falling curtain, allowing the free falling curtain to impinge transversely on the moving support. <IMAGE>
