[origin: EP0537438A1] The invention relates to a file mechanism having a baseplate (10), two alignment pegs (12) projecting on the baseplate, a fold-down ring (18) capable of restricted pivoting on the baseplate (10), a bearing block (20) projecting above the baseplate (10) in the region between the alignment pegs (12) and the fold-down ring (18), and an actuating lever (22) which is pivotably mounted on the bearing block and acts against the force of a spring (30) on an offset (25) of the fold-down ring (18). In order that it should be possible, in the open position, to charge not only the alignment pegs (12) but also the fold-down ring (18) with documents, the actuating lever (22) is composed of two lever parts (36, 38) which are pivotable relative to each other on a combined sliding/pivot joint (34). <IMAGE>
