[origin: EP0537457A1] In an adjustable-length vacuum cleaner tube consisting of an inner tube (1) and an outer tube (7), a guide piece (6) for a displaceably mounted blocking member (8) is inserted from the outside in an opening of the outer tube which has a constant diameter over its length. A sleeve surrounding the outer tube also covers the guide piece with the blocking member (8), the blocking member (8) being adjustable by means of an actuating knob (15) in such a way that a catch member (4) which engages in a catch notch (3) of the inner tube (1) can be adjusted from a catch position into a release position. <IMAGE>
