Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0538662A2] A freefall winch has a drive motor, a planetary output stage and a planetary drive stage. In the planetary output stage, the sun gear is driven, the planet carrier or the internal gear is supported on the frame of the freefall winch, and the free member still remaining is connected in a torsionally rigid manner to a drum of the freefall winch. In the planetary drive stage, the sun gear is driven, and the planet carrier or the internal gear drive the sun gear of the planetary output stage. Furthermore, the freefall winch has a brake for braking or releasing the winch drum. In this arrangement, the remaining free member of the planetary drive stage can be braked by the brake, and connected between the planetary drive stage and the planetary output stage is an intermediate planetary stage which forms a coupled gear unit with the planetary drive stage. <IMAGE>
