[origin: EP0539309A1] The present invention relates to a device for controlling the load of a boiler with a mechanical grate (1), with adjustable drive speed "V" and using solid fuel (2) supplied through a controller (5) of height "h" of layer (3), and capable of transmitting to an exchanger circuit (17) an adjustable thermal power. It comprises an arithmetic unit (25) which is connected at least to different sensors for measuring said height "h", said speed "V" and functioning parameters of said exchanger circuit (17), and in which there is stored in a memory a coefficient Ko proper to the fuel (2) used, such that the theoretical power that said fuel can release in the combustion chamber (6) of the boiler is Qb = V x h x Ko. This value Ko is corrected by said arithmetic unit (25) each time the difference between the theoretical power Qb and that transmitted Qm to the circuit (17) is too great, and replaced by a new value Ki calculated from this last measured heat.
