Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0539924A1] The invention relates to a procedure and an apparatus for the production of transfer sheets for firing of images, characters and decors on ceramic objects to be fired, such as items of crockery, tiles or on objects which remain dimensionally stable at a high heating temperature, the transfer sheets provided with the image and/or character and/or decor being stuck to the objects on the colouring pigment side and being fired or heated together with said objects. According to the invention, provision is made for the ceramic colouring pigments to be made up in an aqueous, organic solution containing a combustion-retarding additive and to be transferred onto the transfer sheet by the gravure printing method using printing formes having a cup depth of at least 50-120 mu , the colouring pigments being maintained in a homogeneous distribution in the prepared solution prior to their transfer onto the gravure cylinder. To carry out the method, only a slight change to the intaglio printing machines is required, namely in such a way that a homogeniser (6), which maintains the homogeneous distribution of the colouring pigments in the aqueous organic solution, is arranged in the ink supply container (4). By means of the method, all the disadvantages of previous methods, namely amount of time required, lack of precision and non-standardised production, are avoided. <IMAGE>
