The invention relates to a method for treating the cover of a multiple-leaf product, such as a book, before assembling this cover and this product, this cover comprising at least one internal reinforcement element, e.g. a sheet of cardboard, this treatment being intended in particular to avoid subsequent warping of the cover, of the type known in the art by the term "tiling". According to the invention, this cover (1) is heated to a temperature lying between 40 and 120 DEG C, and preferably between 50 and 95 DEG C, the cover thus heated is then passed through a bending device (6, 7), with a view to bending it when hot, in particular with a concavity turned inwards to the product, optionally followed by a second bending, but with the cover inverted, so that it is flattened when hot. The cover thus bent when hot no longer exhibits a tendency to become deformed. <IMAGE>

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de la couverture d'un ouvrage à feuillets multiples tel qu'un livre, préalablement à l'assemblage de cette couverture et de cet ouvrage, cette couverture comprenant au moins un élément de renfort interne, p. ex. une feuille de carton, ce traitement étant notamment destiné à éviter un gauchissement ultérieur de la couverture, du type désigné dans la technique par le terme de "tuilage". Selon l'invention, on chauffe cette couverture (1) jusqu'à une température comprise entre 40 et 120°C et, de préférence, entre 50 et 95°C, on fait ensuite passer la couverture ainsi chauffée dans un dispositif de cambrage (6,7), en vue de lui imprimer à chaud un cambrage, notamment à concavité tournée vers l'intérieur de l'ouvrage, éventuellement suivie d'un seconde cambrage, mais avec la couverture retournée, de manière qu'elle soit aplatie à chaud. La couverture ainsi cambrée à chaud n'a plus tendence à se déformer. <IMAGE>
